The Chimay Cup

The countdown to the most famous cup competition in prediction football is ticking away to the big kick off.

The draw takes place this Friday at the Buckingham Arms at 5:30pm

The competition will take the form of two legs per round, home and away legs. The name drawn out of the hat first for each tie will be the home team first.

There will be no striker points for the matches, prediction scores only. The usual scoring system is in place – one point for a correct result, two for a correct score. If there is no clear winner after the two legs the player with the most correct scores goes through. If there is still no outcome, the away points rule counts. i.e. if a player scores more points in their away leg than their opponent does in their away leg they go through. If there is still no winner, the away points rule only counts for correct score lines. If there is still no winner, striker points will then come in to play. Finally, the result will be decided by the toss of a coin.

The competition does of course take the traditional knock out format, with only the winner over two legs going through to the next round.

The dates for the rounds are as follows

Round One:

Leg One – 1st & 2nd December

Leg Two – 8th & 9th December

Round Two:

Leg One – 15th & 16th December

Leg Two – w/e of 12th January

The Final:

Leg One – w/e of 19th January

Leg Two – 29th & 30th January

There will be a small entrance fee (whatever the cost of a Chimay pack is divided by 8).
